As the beta kicks off today, March 17, aspiring players are taking to the game’s Reddit to express their surprise, frustration, and amusement at the KFC beta code campaign. Players could previously pre-order Diablo 4 to get a beta code, but this is no longer available now that the beta has begun.
Some users order KFC just for the beta code, with no intention of eating the chicken sandwich, while some protest it outright.

Reddit user kurinoeko666 posted an “anti-vegan beta key” post asking why the only way to access Diablo 4’s beta other than pre-ordering is “to order a dead chicken from KFC”.
Another user, MahiMatt, falls into the latter category. “Just ordered my KFC chicken sandwich with the Diablo promotion,” they said. “Question: do I have to actually pick up the sandwich to get the code?” Other users have voiced similar plans, with one calling the collaboration a “dystopian nightmare”.
The beta code is available to anyone in the US who orders a Double Down sandwich or other valid options, even if a vegan or vegetarian meal is absent from the list.
Diablo 4 will launch on June 6, 2023, with a second, fully open public beta taking place next week from March 24-26.
