As the tweet went viral, some people were upset with Kapoor’s ‘inability to appreciate the country’s infrastructural development’ while others agreed with him to some extent, suggesting that metros here lack an ‘eco-friendly’ and ‘inclusive’ approach.

“It is well pointed out. Our public infrastructure is not environmentally friendly, expensive or good, and most of it is inaccessible. Not just metro stations or other public infrastructure. These days private construction has completely ruined Aesthetics which has been given little importance,” said a user on Twitter.

Another said that public transport should not look ‘pretty’. A user even took the debate a step further, bringing ancient Indian art into the conversation. “Only if you had seen the architecture of ancient India. The only difference between then and now is that India then had enough resources. India now cannot afford to spend money on aesthetics and if it costs less,” his tweet read.
