According to VCA Animal Hospitals, as dogs get older, they may not be able to hear like humans, and it’s often a gradual process that can be hard to spot.

“The eardrums are weakened, and sounds are not transmitted effectively. Some dogs lose their hearing due to chronic ear infections. Still others may have a traumatic injury to the ear, which leads to hearing loss. Finally, some dogs are born deaf due to a genetic defect; this is called congenital hearing loss,” the website says. theirs.

In addition, they say that in most cases of congenital allergies, deafness is related to pigment, and most of the affected dogs have white or white hair, although they should not be confused with albino dogs.

Breeds that commonly experience pigment-related deafness include Australian shepherds, Dalmatians, Great Danes, and Welsh corgis among others.

Central Texas Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital says signs of significant hearing loss in dogs include showing a change in hearing or attention; appearing unresponsive to everyday sounds, such as a doorbell or a vacuum; seeming not to respond to his name; failure to respond to standard verbal commands; difficulty waking up from sleep; not moving, excessive barking, and shaking or tilting his head.

The post quickly went viral across social media, attracting animal lovers from all over the world, and has so far received over 190,000 views and 32,500 likes.
