HireVue Attempts to Escape Biometrics Suit Over AI Interviews

HireVue Inc. asked an Illinois federal judge to toss allegations that it violated the state’s Biometric Information Privacy Act by collecting facial scans of individuals who interviewed for positions with companies using HireVue’s automated video interview platform.

Kristen Deyerler and five of her co-plaintiffs allege that HireVue didn’t obtain their consent before collecting their biometric identifiers, nor did it provide a publicly available data retention and destruction policy, as required under the act.
