Instead of doing more nefarious things with the capabilities of artificial intelligence, the internet seems instead to be focused on using the technology to make people or even fictional characters have whatever random conversations they can come up with.
We’ve already heard the presidents of the United States bicker about their Guilty Gear network, and now we have AI Kratos asking AI Ed Boon to join Mortal Kombat 12’s roster.
Pro Mortal Kombat player IGLDaddyDab recently released a video that uses the voice cloning technology to have the MK co-creator and estranged son of Zeus have a little chat that got the attention of the right developer.
Not bad. At first I was impressed with the AI Ed Boon voice… but after a while it drifted a bit,” Boon wrote on Twitter after apparently seeing it. “Krato’s voice seemed pretty good. Guess they had more than sound samples to draw from.”
He’s right that you don’t really want to mistake AI Boon for the real guy talking like you sometimes do with the presidents, but it’s still cool, yet unsettling in the uncanny valley we’re not sure about will have. better or worse over time.

Obviously, IGLDaddyDab added some jokes and puns regarding God of War and the Mortal Kombat series, including some play on Havik.
Kratos was previously a PlayStation 3 exclusive character for Mortal Kombat 2011, so he’s already featured once – but he’s got some new weapons and tricks up his sleeve that could make him very different in a game like MK12.
And if Sony makes him exclusive again, the God of War has an idea for who to use in his place.
