No, you’re not dreaming – GoldenEye 007, Rare’s legendary N64 shooter, is coming to Nintendo Switch this week. After the current requests, it is ultimately return to the Switch Online Expansion Pack service this Friday.

While we’ll never really know how difficult it was to bring this classic first-person shooter back to life, shortly after yesterday’s set release date, Xbox head Phil Spencer took a moment to acknowledge “the journey” that Microsoft’s games division has been on to make this happen. As you may remember, there was a lot lots of licensing issues to overcome and there was even a canceled remaster along the way. Here is exactly what he had to say:

Phil Spencer: “It’s been a long journey to release GoldenEye 007 on Xbox, great to finally be able to bring it to Xbox and @XboxGamePass. This @RareLtd classic is also releasing on #NintendoSwitch @NintendoAmerica however you decide to play this a classic worth playing.”

As Phil notes, “however you decide to play” this one will be worth checking out. If you opt for the Switch Online version of the game, you will have access to online multiplayer. And for users on Xbox, this game will be accessible via the Rare replay collection and Xbox Game Pass. This particular version will also come with native 16:9 resolution and 4K Ultra HD support.
