Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Developers Share Major Season 2 Changes: UI Updates, Customizable Perks, Movement and More

The developers’ Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 deep-dive blog revealed the big changes that are set to come in Season 2, so let’s see what to expect from the update.

The developers have announced that Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 will be pushed back two weeks from February 1 to February 15 to work on the status of the two games. Players soured on Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 throughout Season 1 due to lack of polish and missing features.

Luckily, the developers will be looking to fix most of these issues with the upcoming Season 2 update. The update is set to bring quality of life improvements, major gameplay changes, and missing features.

On January 25, the developers revealed an in-depth blog post about all the changes, so let’s take a look at what’s to come in Season 2.

Return of the classic 1v1 Gulag in Warzone 2

Warzone 2 Season 2 will reintroduce the original Warzone Gulag which includes a 1v1 battle for redeployment. After many player complaints about the 2v2 nature of Warzone 2’s Gulag, the devs decided to revert to the original.

“1v1 Gulag will return with the launch of Season 02. With this change, players will see the return of the original war zone overtime mechanic – the Domination-style flag checkpoint – in place of the jailer.

Major Warzone 2 Looting Changes

Warzone 2 players will be able to visually see loot spread on dead players, eliminating the need to rummage through backpacks. After the Season 2 update, loot will spawn on the ground after a player is killed. The same tentacle loot effect will occur when a player opens a loot crate.

According to the developers, “This change is intended to improve the pace of gameplay by minimizing the time spent navigating the UI and allowing players to get back into the action faster.”

Players believed that the abundant number of self-revives available to players and the ability to store them in backpacks were detrimental to gameplay. Players will not be able to stack self-assessments as easily in Season 2.

It looks like Warzone 2 will take a step back from its focus on backpack looting after the devs confirmed the removal of medium and large backpacks.

New DMZ content for Warzone 2 Season 2

Warzone 2’s DMZ mode is set to receive new content in Season 2.

Warzone 2’s DMZ mode is also set for an overhaul as new assignments, a new exclusion zoneand difficulty setting will arrive with the Season 2 update. New missions and a new area to discover will offer DMZ players new content to explore. Spawn Points and mission difficulty will also receive the setting.

It’s the adjustment to the mode’s difficulty that will delight players, after countless complaints about the AI. Solo players and groups of two found DMZ impossible to enjoy with the difficulty set to challenge a team of three players.

“With Season 02, we introduced a number of balance changes to adjust AI spawn types, AI spawn counts and ranged AI accuracy and much more. All of this should provide a challenging yet manageable playspace that still requires players to respect enemy combatants in the DMZ.

Warzone 2 movement changes in Season 2

Movement changes are coming to Warzone 2 in Season 2. “Players will be able to drive through gates while tackling as they would if they were sprinting.”

The change will bring small increase in movement speed while platingwhich will allow players to cover themselves quickly.

3 plate vests

The developers have also confirmed that all players will start with a 3 plate vest. “Vests of different sizes will no longer exist in Battle Royale loot.”

Loadout and Perk Changes With Warzone 2 Season 2 Update

In Warzone 2 Season 2, players will be able to customize their own benefit package. The developers will add a feature that will allow players to select the combination of four perks that best suits their playstyle.

Since launch, Warzone 2 players were forced to choose between predefined perk packages that limited their options.

Additionally, “A second public Loadout Drop event has been added, which means drops will now occur on the first and fifth circles in every match.”

Increased Warzone 2 Cash and Reduced Buy Station Price

Buy Station prices will undergo changes in Warzone 2 Season 2.

Players will have more money at the start of Warzone 2 Season 2. A increased lootable silver around Al Mazrah will be accompanied by lower Buy Station prices.

This money change is intended to stabilize the Warzone 2 economy, giving players more bang for their buck.

Players will notice new prices at Buy Stations: “The price of Loadout Drop Markers has been reduced slightly so that respective team sizes can acquire their full loadouts at a faster rate.” The developers also stated that “primary weapons will continue to be available at Buy Stations, but now at a more affordable price.”

Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 UI updates

Players will be delighted to discover that User interface updates are coming to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Season 2 will “improve the overall menu flow of the game.”

Here is a list of UI changes for the two games in Season 2:

  • Improved Camo menu navigation and organization
  • More refined social tab, including improved channel swapping and player mute
  • New screen “My packages”
  • Quickly equip items from Battlepass, My Bundles, and Store
  • Reticle previews in Store and Gunsmith
  • Improved clarity of attachment blocking logic in Gunsmith

The developers also revealed that a Play Again feature is finally coming.

Modern Warfare 2 Perk Adjustments and Audio Tuning

The developers explained that a type of their audio system did not activate in multiplayer after launch. After testing, they found a way to get their bite system operational and it will arrive in season 2.

Modern Warfare 2 players will earn their ultimate bonuses and perks much faster in matches following the Season 2 update. reduce bonus perk cost by 50% and the 25% Ultimate Perk Cost.

“This adjustment will allow players to get Ghost earlier in matches, which will better support players looking to engage more aggressively.”

Hardcore mode and ranked play are coming to Modern Warfare 2

The fan-favorite Hardcore mode makes its debut in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2. Hardcore is a staple in the Call of Duty franchise that increases realism with a limited HUD and less health.

While Modern Warfare 2 players received the Tier 1 playlist which shares similar features with the classic Hardcore mode, they will be pleased to know that the original is coming in Season 2.

As mentioned earlier, ranked play is also heading to Modern Warfare 2 in Season 2.
