Rome (Ga.) High four-star defensive lineman Stephilan Green is the latest to announce his commitment to Clemson, going public with his plans to play for Dabo Swinney and his staff on Wednesday afternoon.
The 6-foot-4, 267-pound Green is the 14th pledge for the Tigers in the 2023 recruiting cycle and the 11th to jump in the boat in the month of June.
Other offers for Green included Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas among others.
“Ever since I’ve been going up to Clemson it’s felt like a team to me,” Green told 247Sports Rusty Mansell. “I have bonded with those guys.”
Green took his official to Clemson the first weekend of June.
“When they first started recruiting me my grades were not good enough,” Green said. “So I respect their honestly with that. They didn’t offer me till I had the grades. I went to work, they talked with me stayed up with me on my grades and when I got to where I needed to be they gave me the offer. I respected that a lot. When I went down there for my official I just felt like I kept bonding more with that team and those coaches. It just feels like more of a family and more a team to me.”
With Green in the fold, he adds to a recruiting class ranked No. 4 nationally by the 247 Sports Composite.
“He was very excited,” Green said of Swinney’s reaction. “He is an excitable guy.”
Green is excited about his future as he joins fellow touted defensive linemen Vic Burley, David Ojiegbe and A.J. Hoffler in the fold.
“I don’t want to give up too much but I promise you this 2023 DL class for Clemson is going to be something special. We’re going to have a mean d-line. A very mean d-line.”
