Yami says its the “worst feeling” to do the project reluctantly | Bollywood

Although she started her journey in films with clarity about the kind of roles she wanted to play, actor Yami Gautam says an “out of sight, out of mind” approach guided her to make conventional choices. The Himachal Pradesh-born actor made his debut in 2012’s Vicky Donor and followed it up with films like Badlapur and Kaabil. In between, he appeared in some stereotypical hero roles, but according to him, things took a turn for the better post Uri: The Surgical Strike and Bala, both 2019 releases. “For me, awareness was always there right from the first film. When I look back 10 years ago, I auditioned for a film like Vicky Donor, which can sound so different from what it actually was… Even then I was clear about the type of films I wanted to be involved with.

“But your real journey starts from your second film. It’s not about success with a particular film, it’s about what comes after and how you can sustain it. I think that’s a bigger challenge,” Yami told PTI in an interview. here.

Looking back, the 34-year-old actor said he made certain decisions the way he wanted to be seen. “At the end of the day, it’s like, ‘out of sight, out of mind,’ so you have to do something. If a certain kind of movie is coming, do it. One is like, ‘Okay, let’s do it,’ But there’s no fun in that,” he added.

He has now developed into a very meticulous artist and considers a project only on the basis of the script, Yami said. “I read the script very carefully and take notes, even for movies I’m not making. I share that with the director when I know the writers. They spend so much time writing, so you owe them that respect. .”

The actor said that his failures have taught him that there are no “shortcuts”. “Everyone has to go through ups and downs. There is a learning curve that we all have to go through the hard way. The hard way is the best way, there are no shortcuts to anything,” he added.

Over the years, Yami also believes he’s realized that the “worst” feeling is being a part of something that doesn’t have his heart. “There are times when you become fearless and feel like instead of doing this, it’s good to sit at home and wait… Because I’ve done that before and it’s the worst feeling.

“You get up uninspired and every moment is heavy… So now I look at things I believe in,” the actor said, adding that he has not signed any new project so far and is waiting for the release of his film.
