X-MEN ’97 Story Details Reveal More About Wolverine, Storm and Magneto’s Battle With Mister Sinister

X-Men: The Animated Series debuted in 1992 and ran for a total of 76 episodes. The show was a hit with comic book fans at the time and offered a nearly perfect portrayal of the mutant team that still resonates to this day.

Marvel Studios appears to be returning to the series in an upcoming series on Disney+ X-Men ’97, and most of the original cast returned to pick up where the series left off. Needless to say, excitement for this is building quickly, but with some MCU TV shows reportedly moving to 2024, there have been concerns that this revival could be one of them.

All we know right now is that it’s listed as “Coming Soon” on Disney+, so hopefully it won’t be too long before we get an official update.

Meanwhile, @XMenUpdate A Twitter account (via Toonado.com) has shared a summary of the topic X-Men ’97 which they say was revealed at the recent “X-Men: 60 Uncanny Years Live Virtual Event.”

It says, “Storm and Wolverine try to continue the X-Men. Magneto comes in and wants to raise Charles Xavier. Sinister comes to try to finish the X-Men once and for all.”

This lines up with what was revealed at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, with Magneto trying to take a heroic route by working with the X-Men instead of against them. Wolverine and Storm leading the team should be fun, while Mister Sinister stepping into the spotlight is definitely exciting (and long overdue).

As for Professor X, we last saw him traveling into space with Lilandra, although he is believed to disappear when X-Men: The Animated Series tracking begins.
