Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon Movies and Point Gray Productions have cast an all-star voice cast for their upcoming CG-animated theatrical release. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant MayhemSeth Rogen revealed on Saturday.
Point Grey, the voice of Bebop the mutant pig, made the announcement at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday night while appearing alongside co-stars Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu and Brady Noon. Abbey plays Ninja Turtle Donatello, Brown Jr as Michelangelo, Cantu as Leonardo and Noon as Raphael.
Others lend their voices to the film, which hits theaters August 4, including Hannibal Buress as Genghis the Frog; Rose Byrne as Leatherhead; John Cena as Rocksteady; Jackie Chan as Splinter; Ice Cube as Superfly; Natasia Demetriou: Wingnut; Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil; Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman; Post Malone as Ray Filet; Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko; and Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom.
New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the film is an original story that follows the crime-fighting Ninja Turtles as they protect the sewers and streets of New York. After spending years sheltered from the human world, the turtle brothers decided to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic deeds. Their new friend April O’Neil (Edibiri) helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon find themselves in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed.
Jeff Rowe (Mitchells vs. Machines) directed the picture depicting Nickelodeon’s first CG-animated theatrical production. Point Gray Productions’ Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver produced, the company’s Lukas Williams co-produced and the company’s own Josh Fagen oversees the project. Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation President Ramsey Naito and Jason McConnell have overseen the production for Nickelodeon, with Paramount handling the film’s global distribution.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the world-class cast we have assembled to bring these iconic, beloved characters to life in a new chapter. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe,” Naito said in a statement. “This truly sets a new bar for this globally renowned franchise, and we can’t wait to bring this film to audiences.”
An enduring children’s franchise created in 1984 by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles began life as a cartoon series that spawned successful animated TV shows, a live-action series, and numerous theatrical releases. The property is a global consumer products powerhouse that has made billions with toys, clothing, video games, DVDs and more. Nickelodeon most recently revamped it with a CG animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 2012 with a 2D animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the following in 2019.
The first teaser Mutant Mayhem is scheduled to be released on Monday.
