As first reported Disney’s MVL Film Finance unit, a subsidiary the company set up to support Marvel Studios production, has filed two Digital Millennium Copyright Act challenges seeking to compel Reddit and Google to identify those behind the leak. Since MSSmods is an account shared between the moderators of r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers, Reddit under the app would require the company to identify more than one person. In addition, Disney has asked Google and Reddit to share any “identifying information” they have on MSSmodes — including names, phone numbers, and IP addresses — as well as information about any users who may have been involved in posting, editing, or uploading the leak.
Reddit did not say whether it plans to comply with the filing. “Reddit is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. We have strict processes in place to review and, if appropriate, oppose legal requests,” a Reddit spokesperson told Engadget, citing the company’s . Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
It’s not clear what Disney plans to do about the source of the leak, possibly a subtitling editor or freelance translator. The document shared by MSSmods was a translation of the topic Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s Portuguese subtitles, not presented in chronological order.
