TJ Holmes and Amy Robach were seen braving the cold to get to the starting line to run the New York City Half Marathon together this morning.
In pictures seen exclusively by DailyMail.com, Holmes, 45, and Robach, 50, were dressed head-to-toe in Lycra and looked cool as they headed to Prospect Park in Brooklyn to work up a sweat.
Their second half in two years, the run is like the former anchors’ first since news of their affair cost them their jobs last year — and comes on the heels or reports that they planned to run the event incognito.
Their affair, revealed by DailyMail.com in November, cost both their marriages and contracts at ABC, with each ending their tenure at GMA3 with severance pay in January. The competition pair have since struggled to keep a low profile – returning from a trip to Mexico in February where they reportedly packed on the PDA.
The couple may also have used the trip to prepare for the 13.1-mile event, which is held in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and catch their fitness with ‘intimate’ sex training that has whipped them into ‘the best shape of their lives’, insiders revealed to DailyMail.com this week.
Snappers posted by DailyMail.com across the East River shortly before sunrise confirmed suspicions that the pair were set to run the relatively under-the-radar event which, pending any successors in its final wave, should finish by midday .
The pair were dressed for the occasion – decked out in hats, gloves and form-fitting sports gear as temperatures hovered just below freezing, joining around 25,000 runners said to be taking part in the event.
Notable names rumored to join the pair include retired Giants running back Tiki Barber, and reality TV stars Andi Dorfman and Peter Weber, who have yet to be photographed since the race’s first heat hit the pavement at 07.00 sharp.
The race begins in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park before heading across the East River via the Manhattan Bridge, where runners, once in Manhattan, will run along the Lower East Side through Midtown and finally finish in Central Park.
Like its more famous, full-on counterpart, the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon is held only once a year, and that comes as a slight disadvantage for Sunday drivers, as it’s one of the only occasions that completely shuts down Times Square.
That said, the race is far from a show-stopping event and is relatively unknown to most New Yorkers, garnering far less coverage than the city’s famous five-by-one event — and attracting less than half as many runners.
It is this pseudo-obscurity that may have played a role in Robach and Holmes’ decision to show up for the first wave of three separate groups of runners, who were preceded by professional wheelchair and handcycle athletes.
The pair seemed to mostly avoid media scrutiny – despite donning brilliantly bright, ultralight running shoes that served to show off their not-so-subtle nature.
