- George and Kellyanne Conway announced on Friday that they were separating
- George was seen for the first time since the news broke Saturday in DC
- He also responded to Donald Trump’s mocking message about the separation
Kellyanne Conway’s soon-to-be ex-husband George Conway was spotted in Washington DC looking distraught, a day after the couple announced they were separating after 22 years.
The photos were taken as Conway responded to former President Donald Trump’s mocking message on Truth Social.
“Congratulations to Kellyanne Conway on her divorce from her crazy husband, Mr. Kellyanne Conway,’ Trump wrote.
‘Free at last, she has finally got rid of the disgusting albatross around her neck. She is an amazing person and will now be free to live the kind of life she deserves…and it will be an amazing life without the extremely unattractive loser by her side!’
Conway responded by saying: ‘I look forward to seeing you in New York for E. Jean’s trial next month! Hugs and kisses.’
Trump will face a civil trial in April stemming from a former columnist’s claim that he raped her in a department store dressing room in the mid-1990s.
In December, Judge Lewis A. Kaplan scheduled a trial for April 17 after denying a request by Trump’s lawyers to delay the trial until the end of the year.
The Conways own several properties in addition to their 3,000-square-foot home in the Garden State. They own an $8 million home in Washington DC and a beach house along the Jersey Shore.
On Friday, the couple announced they have filed for divorce after 22 years of marriage after admitting her husband’s criticism of Donald Trump was a betrayal.
Their social media star daughter Claudia tweeted for the first time in over four months following the news.
“Y’all shut up fr,” she wrote. She later retweeted her father’s tweeted photo of the family dog Skipper, who died in October 2021.
The couple revealed they are going their separate ways after years of speculation over whether the pair even liked each other, according to Page Six.
George has been one of Donald Trump’s biggest critics, publicly mocking the president on Twitter while hiring his wife.
Kellyanne and George married in 2001 and had three children in addition to their aspiring singer, Vanessa, Charlotte and George. The couple have both hired divorce attorneys and are working to divide their assets, Page Six reported.
Kellyanne, 56, became a Trump adviser in 2016 and served as his campaign manager. While she worked endlessly for the president, her husband — who co-founded the Lincoln Project, which worked to prevent Trump’s re-election — blasted the president on social media.
The divorce doesn’t seem to have slowed his criticism, as he was active on Twitter lambasting the former leader on Friday, including retweeting a post questioning the president’s sanity.
Their political rift was brought up in Kellyanne’s 2022 memoir Here’s The Deal, where she revealed that she viewed his criticism as a betrayal of their marriage. She considered his tweets ‘cheating’ and it was revealed that Trump’s daughter Ivanka had suggested the couple seek therapy.
Trump himself had even called George a ‘stone cold LOSER & husband from hell’ at one point.
Another crack in the family image came in 2020 after their teenage daughter Claudia criticized her mother and Trump.
Kellyanne announced in August 2020 that she would be leaving the White House the day after the 15-year-old said she was ‘officially pushing for emancipation’ from her parents in a series of tweets.
Kellyanne said she left for the sake of her family to be ‘less drama, more mum’.
On Friday, Claudia took to TikTok and said her parents wanted to divorce but have now called it off ‘to prevent her from being emancipated’.
She accused her father George of not caring about her and not knowing her middle name and said her mother has been physically abusive all her life.
George also stepped down from his role in the Lincoln Project and took a short hiatus from Twitter to focus on family.
In a statement at the time, Kellyanne called her time in the Trump administration ‘intoxicating’ and ‘humiliating’ and said she and George made the decision based on what they believe is best for their four children.
‘We disagree about a lot,’ she wrote of her and her husband, ‘but we are united about what matters most: the children.
“Our four children are teenagers and ‘tweens who are starting a new academic year in middle school and high school that will be conducted remotely from home for at least a few months. As millions of parents across the country know, children attending school require from home, a level of attention and vigilance as unusual as in these times.’
Conway continued: ‘This is entirely my choice and my vote. In time I will announce future plans. For now, and for my beloved children, it will be less drama, more mama.’
Months later, more drama spilled out between Kellyanne and Claudia after the latter posted a TikTok publicly accusing her mother of hiding her positive COVID-19 diagnosis and saying Trump is worse than he claims.
Claudia took to the site to ‘clarify’ her claim that the Donald Trump aide had ‘lied’ about her test result on Friday – but the pair clashed in the video as Kellyanne accused her daughter of ‘lying about your damn mother’. ‘
